Fall Sports Season Wrap Up

The fall sports season here at Massabesic High School was one to remember. Kicking off with football, every player on the football team had heart. Through each game, no matter the probability of winning, they came together and gave 110%. The boys picked up the pieces through every injury, not letting anyone fall behind. A highlight from the season was the last game of the season. With 19 seconds left in the game against Deering, Massabesic called a play that was only practiced once. The hook and ladder play allowed Tomasso Mobiglio (#11)  to score the winning touchdown for the Mustangs. The crowd went wild and fled the field as the Mustangs celebrated their well deserved win. Out of all the team, the boys recieved the Good Sportsmanship Award for Class A South. The football team finished their season 2-6.

Girls Cheering
The Varsity Squad for the Massabesic Mustang cheering team, was one full of much love and laughter. Coach Samantha Paradis shares, “The girls had a great season cheering on the football team.” All of the dedication that these girls put in, the blood, sweat, and tears, to perfect their routines, definitely paid off.

Massabesic Girls Field Hockey
The girls field hockey team had an outstanding season. Finishing 12-2 in the regular season. Coach Martin-Moore shares, “It was a great season. We defeated Thornton Academy 3-0 in the Quarterfinals, before losing to Westbrook in double overtime in the semi-finals for southern Maine.” The girls stayed in the top 3 heel point standings, all season. Emma Rutledge beat the school record finishing her high school career with 57 goals. All of the seniors will truly be missed.

Massabesic Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team had a great finish to their season, finishing 3-11-0. They had 3 big wins against Westbrook (2OT), Biddeford, and Noble. They were unfortunately kicked out of the playoff by Kennebunk, losing 2-1 in double overtime. The boys played their best but just couldn’t come out on top. The whole season was filled with hard work and determination as long with working together as a team. The hard work now, will definitely pay off in the upcoming seasons.

Cross Country

The girls and boys cross country team for the Massabesic Mustangs had a very successful season. Making their way to states, the boys placed 7th, and the girls placed 9th. Kylie Johnson Qualified for the New England Championship Meet. Through every hard practice, each runner pushed themselves to rise to their very best. The runners showed support to each of their teammates, and also showed love to the new freshman. The senior runners and their positivity will be missed.
