Denis Estimon, a high school student in Florida, started to notice how lots of students were sitting alone during his high school's lunch. Dennis didn’t think this was acceptable, so he decided to create a group with help from his English teacher, Jordan Hernandez. Together they created, “We Dine Together,” and this group was created to make sure that everyone at lunch was not eating alone, whether they knew the individual or not. In first grade, Dennis immigrated to the U.S. from Haiti. “There was a language barrier… and my mom was always working and my father was still in Haiti at the time so I wasn’t able to talk to anyone,” Dennis shared with ABC News. Determined to make people not feel the way he used to when he first came to America, Dennis created the group and has brought happiness to many teens. When the club was just starting out, around 15 people would join weekly for lunch, and now more than 80 students gather to eat lunch together. Could this be an idea that could be transferred over to Massabesic High School? It is a great thought that could benefit and possibly bring more people together at our school.
