Man dies in donut eating contest

By Kayleen Turner
Travis Malouff died at the age of 42. He died on April 2, 2017 at Voodoo Donuts located in Denver, Colorado. Travis died while competing in the shop’s donut eating contest in which the contestant must complete a half pound donut in 80 seconds. Travis died due to the obstruction of his air way; therefore he choked to death.A man walks past the storefront of Voodoo Doughnuts on East Colfax Avenue in Denver on Tuesday, April 4, 2017.    Witness Julia Edelstein recalled that Travis had been walking around, and started slamming his fists against the counter. When he turned around Julia recalled that Malouff’s face was blue, and he then collapsed to the floor. When emergency services arrived Travis was pronounced dead. Voodoo donuts has since then suspended the competition, and has not responded to many emails and phone calls.
