The Maine Youth Wilderness Leadership Program is held in Baxter State Park and is designed to inspire new environmental leaders in Maine. This program has been held annually since 2009. During this nine day program, you work with park rangers and specialists. You learn about the wilderness through multiple aspects of school, such as art, science, history, photography, storytelling and recreation. This program is described as “life-changing” and “unforgettable” by the alumni of the program.

Current sophomores and juniors are able to apply. Ten participants and six alternates are selected in March. They start in April with reading material and at the end of the program, participants speak about the program and what their experience was.
